Want to make it your own style? This blog will guide you through a simple, delicious recipe and provide tips to customize it to your taste!




Mulled Wine

Ingredients (Serves 4 – Light Drink)

  1. 1 bottle of red wine

  2. Honey (to taste)

  3. 1 orange (juice and peel)

  4. 1 lemon (juice only)

  5. Spices: 4 cardamom pods, 3 cinnamon sticks, 8 star anise

  6. Brandy (optional)

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Heat the wine Pour the bottle of red wine into a large pot and warm it on low heat. Avoid boiling the wine to preserve its flavor.

  2. Add the spices Toss in 4 cardamom pods, 3 cinnamon sticks, and 8 star anise. Let the spices infuse for about 15 minutes as the wine gently simmers.

  3. Add citrus juices After 15 minutes, stir in 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice and ½ cup of orange juice.

  4. Add orange peel Five minutes before finishing, add the peel of an orange to enhance the aroma and flavor.

  5. Sweeten it up Stir in 2 tablespoons of honey. Adjust the sweetness to your preference by adding more or less.

  6. Optional: Add brandy For an extra kick, pour in a splash of brandy before serving.

Important Notes

  1. Wine Selection: Avoid using high-end wines, very tannic wines, or light-bodied wines, as they don’t work well for mulled wine.

  2. Spice Purchase: You can easily find all these spices at once in your local market, which is often more convenient than searching for them individually in large supermarket chains. 

  3. Best Served Fresh: Mulled wine tastes best when enjoyed the same day it’s made. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 day.

  4. Reheating: To reheat, warm the wine gently on low heat. Be careful not to overheat as it can burn and ruin the flavor.
